How Did We Do?
What Our Patients Say
I was living with intense shooting pain going down my left leg for about 4 months. It got to the point where I couldn't even get up to walk or stand straight. At times it hurt so bad, it would take my breath away. I thought to myself, "I'll be fine. I'll do a lot more stretches and try to modify the exercise I’m doing." Well that wasn't helping me at all. I continued to keep working out and complaining to all my friends about it. One of my dearest friends said, "V, you should make an appointment to see Dr. Knecht." So I took his advice and made the appointment. Dr. Knecht sat me down and educated me on my spine. He explained and showed me what a healthy spine should look like and compared it to what mine looked like. He then explained why I was having all the pain I was having. Right then and there I said, “Sign me up, let’s get started.” He did a full exam including X-Rays before they started any adjustments or treatment. I started my first treatment on March 11th, 2020 it is now May 19th, 2020, I haven't had any shooting pain since I started going to see Dr. Knecht. I've also noticed my sleep habits are better, my immune system seems to be improved, and I haven't had a cold or felt under the weather since March 11th. I still have a way to go, but I'd never be where I'm at today if it wasn't for Dr. Knecht. I would recommend and refer Dr. Knecht to everyone and anyone I know. Think about it, all your nerves come together at the spine, it's important to keep your spine aligned. I will continue to see Dr. Knecht for as long as I can, as I truly believe getting adjusted is so important to your health and wellbeing. Not only is Dr. Knecht so knowledgeable, but his associate Dr. Brittni, Physical Therapist Donna, and his assistant Brandi are too. They are just an amazing group of people to work with. Victoria W. I initially came to Knecht Chiropractic because I had a constant dull and aching pain in my upper back and neck. I couldn’t get rid of the pain no matter how I moved or turned. I was also having problems sleeping through the night. I just couldn’t get comfortable. I hadn’t seen a chiropractor in over six years, so I thought it was probably time to go back. On my first visit to Knecht Chiropractic, my x-rays were taken. The next day I came in and Dr. Knecht explained my x-rays and explained the proper treatment. Everything was very thorough, and I knew exactly why I needed to proceed with the treatment. After my first adjustment, I was already feeling relief. I have now been on a 12-week program at Knecht Chiropractic since December. I regularly receive adjustments and physical therapy and now know ways in which I can sit, walk, and work to help ease my back pain. Before my treatment, I was waking up 2-4 times a night in pain. I am now only waking up once after several hours of sleep, helping me feel much more refreshed throughout the day. I look forward to my adjustments and therapy each week because it has continued to make me feel better and better. If someone with back pain were to ask me if they should also see a chiropractor, I would 100% recommend it, and I would most certainly recommend Knecht Chiropractic. I plan on finishing out my 12-week treatment, and I am excited to see how my x-rays have progressed. I will also continue coming to Knecht Chiropractic after my 12 weeks to provide long term care of my spine. Liz F. April 2020
I initially started chiropractic care about 10 years ago because of sciatica, and after about 10 months I noticed I was no longer getting sinus infections either. Once I went through my initial treatment, I moved to a maintenance program to maintain the health benefits I was receiving. After starting a new job where I traveled frequently and worked from home instead of the office, I found it difficult getting to my chiropractor in the Loop and I slowly started experiencing neck and back pain. After a few months I could not take the discomfort any longer and decided to look for a chiropractor that was close to my home for convenience. That’s when I found Knecht Chiropractic. Knecht Chiropractic was able to see me the same day I called to make an appointment, and after their initial exam I learned that I was in rougher shape than I originally thought from my hiatus. Knecht Chiropractic put me on a treatment plan that worked with my schedule, and after a few months I started feeling much better. The home stretches, adjustments, exercises and active massages all worked together to get me back to a healthy state. I grew up with skepticism of chiropractic care in my family, so I was really hesitant to try it 10 years ago; however, when the pain got so bad that it was the only thing on my mind, I decided to give it a shot. I went in for pain but learned that subluxations cause decreased nerve impulses to organs way before you experience pain, and it was contributing to my chronic sinus infections and colds. Seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis removes my subluxations and boosts my immune system. I rarely get sick now. If you are skeptical about chiropractic care like I was, I encourage you to give it a try. Find a chiropractor like Knecht Chiropractic where they do a full exam, including X-Rays, before they start adjustments. It is important that a chiropractor knows what the problem is before they start implementing a solution. Remember, symptoms (e.g. pain) are not the problem. They are the result of the problem. I will not let my chiropractic care tapper off again! Dru H. May 2020
On May 4th of this year, I suffered what my Neurologist has diagnosed as a “thunderclap” migraine headache that sent me to the emergency room. Two days later, I suffered a second one and for about the next two months every day I had at least if one migraine headache a day. My neurologist was prescribing increasing dosages of prescription medications to break the headaches. I was taking over 600mgs of Advil to control pain after weaning off of the narcotics prescribed by the emergency room. With consultation with my neurologist about what other methods of treatments I could pursue he advised me to try, and I somewhat reluctantly came in, for a chiropractic consult. The root cause of the sudden onset of my migraine headaches has never been discovered. However, the treatment provided by Dr. Knecht , Dr. Brittni and everyone here at Knecht Chiropractic has greatly improved my quality of life. Shortly after starting adjustments I stopped taking painkillers, and gradually started reducing my dosages of the prescription migraine medicines. In addition to the help with the headaches, I have seen a drastic improvement with some of the long term aches and pains that I have accumulated over a lifetime of manual labor and active living. The rather immediate and sustained improvement that I have been experiencing has been an awakening of sorts to the benefits of this branch of medicine that I had long dismissed due to a bad experience earlier in my life. Based on this experience, I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. K and everyone here to control my migraines and improve my spinal health. I plan on recommending Chiropractic treatment to my friends and family should the need arise. Matt K October 2019
I initially started seeing Dr. K because of low back pain and constant neck pain. I had been going to another place with very little improvements. Luckily for me, Dr. Knecht is in my neighborhood and also offers fabulous care. My everyday low back pain has gone from a 7 down to a 2. Now that I've been seeing Dr. K regularly, my low back pain is almost non-existent. My neck pain is improving as well which is way more than I can say about my treatment at that other place. I enjoy the staff as well. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely feel "at home" during my visits. I honestly didn't understand the importance of spinal alignment and the serious issues that can progress over time if issues go untreated. I feel like I've been very well educated on my specific issues. I'm more attentive with my posture. I've been more active and I truly have a much better understanding of the benefits of exercise, proper nutrition, and the basic maintenance of taking care of my body. Go see Dr. K ASAP. He's honest, legit, and to the point. I appreciate that I was actually given a timeline for my treatments. I didn't even know that was a thing! I will absolutely stay on track in taking care of my spinal health as well as overall health. Knowing that I could be at risk for arthritis and a number of other ailments is enough for me to continue my path to wellness and overall, good health. René G. December 2017
I stumbled upon Knecht Chiropractic’s at Market days and decided to stop on a whim. After chatting for a while, I decided to make an appointment to come in and get an examination. I hadn’t really thought about how my back pain or bad posture could be causing me long-term effects. Learning about how different parts of your spine can pinch nerves and cause other issues in your body was really eye-opening. After my first visit, I could already feel how it was affecting my body. I felt like I was standing taller and not correcting my posture as much. I love coming into the office to get adjusted because I always leave feeling great. But I also love coming in because the staff is such a wonderful group of people that I love chatting with! I have already pushed friends of mine to try using a chiropractor themselves. Lucas K. I wanted to start off my saying it is an honor to be the Patient of the Month! I am hoping my story brings some inspiration to those of you who are ready to become serious about chiropractic care. Initially, I was brought into to Knecht Chiropractic due to an injury I was dealing with in my lower back that had gotten severely worse on the golf course. I am in my mid twenties and being a former Division I soccer player, I was embarrassed that I sustained this injury playing golf. I quickly realized from Dr. Knecht that I had a fracture in my vertebrae that had healed itself and was causing this sever pain while doing any activity. My experience at Knecht Chiropractic has been amazing from the moment you walk in the door, they make you feel at home. Everyone is always smiling and you can tell they enjoy being there and helping the people around them. The flexibility of scheduling has been incredible as well. During the Fall I am a High School Boys soccer coach and my schedule can change very frequently. Deborah has always been understanding and would always be there to work around my schedule. It has been a very comfortable experience to say the least. While at Knecht I have learned about how my body can still perform the way I want it to. I was missing out on a lot of activities such as golf, yoga, and soccer while I was injured. After coming to Knecht I realized that I was rushing back into sports and working out too early. I realized with chiropractic care and active therapy my body could recover quicker and this was done by strengthening targeted muscles in certain areas in my lower back and hips. Working with Jeries has also been a great pleasure from the therapy to the conversation. In the first session I could tell he was just in tune with how my body was functioning and helped me loosen areas that have always been very tight and bothersome. Since being with Knecht I feel a freedom to perform the way I want my body to, from hard workouts a couple times a week to full soccer games. I also have seen a huge improvement in my sleep; I stay asleep and wake up feeling refreshed, which gives me the energy to start my day and get through tasks that would have been a struggle before. I tell my friends, coworkers, and family that chiropractic care has helped me become the athlete and person I see myself as. The piece of mind knowing that I am taking care of myself is worth it in itself. I owe the whole Knecht Chiropractic team a huge thank you for getting me to this point. The whole experience has been amazing and I wanted to say thank you for being so kind and invested in me as a person and a patient! Matthew R. January 2018
As a corporate attorney, I’ve spent a significant part of the last 25 years sitting at my desk. For a while I noticed that I couldn’t sit for long without pain, I walked with my head lunged forward and got scared one day when I saw that my right foot would move at an angle when I walked. I even had trouble driving for more than an hour and found myself sitting crooked. While I’m in good shape generally, I realized that If I didn’t start taking better cared of myself at my current age, someday when I retire I’d end up looking like hunchback of Notre Dame! It was time to make my first visit to see a chiropractor. My mother always praised it, but I was skeptical. I was nervous at first that maybe I’d have some serious problem that couldn’t be fixed, but from the first visit, Dr. Knecht put me at ease. After describing my problems, he set me on a 3 month course to get my spine aligned. Honestly, I was anxious about the adjustments, the massages and the exercises, but day after day I felt really comfortable with all of it, because I felt better afterwards. The neck cracking was bizarre, couldn’t believe the sounds that came from my neck, but the feeling afterwards was amazing. I started to look forward to the adjustments and even the massages which initially were quite intense (as I was really in need). One of the best things? The entire staff is amazing! They all remember my name and even would remember what I did the week before. Deborah, Lourdes, Kristin, Jeries, Dr. B and Dr. K. I felt that they really cared about me, my needs and my well-being. They got to know me personally, not just as a paying patient, but as a real person with an individual need and personal story to tell. Each time I’d walk in I’d be greeted with a huge Deborah smile and be sent on my way to get treatment. I didn’t expect a lot of changes right away, I mean you can’t cure 25 years of sitting with a neck crack, but I was a “patient” patient and persevered. After a month I was already feeling more limber. After 2 months people started to ask me If I got taller, as my posture was noticeably better and upright. After 3 months, my right leg was almost walking straight. What I’ve learned most is that this is not a temporary fix, but it’s a lifetime step change. So many people, including me, have neglected their spine, but not anymore! Now that I realize how important it is and how much it makes you feel better, I am determined to listen to my body and maintain a regular visit to Knecht Chiropractic. More than a neighborhood doctor, it’s like visiting a caring family. If anyone askes me whether a chiropractor is helpful, I will surely be there to convince them to give it a try, have patience and go to someone that cares about your well-being. Knecht Chiropractic is that kind of place. Paul S. February 2018
I came in to see Dr. Knecht after I hurt my lower back at the gym. In addition to that, I have had chronic sciatic pain and neck stiffness for the past couple of years, and I really wanted to correct whatever underlying problem was causing this. After reading great reviews online, I decided to give Knecht Chiropractic a try. At my first visit, Dr. Knecht and Dr. Lorton conducted a very comprehensive intake exam, including x-rays and a discussion of my medical history. I was able to see Dr. Knecht later that day to go over my x-rays, and he thoroughly explained what my x-rays meant, how he would go about treating and correcting my issues, and how much of a time and financial commitment it would be. Needless to say, after this first visit I knew I was in good hands. Since then, I’ve been coming in three times a week, and my treatment includes chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy and active massage therapy. My acute lower back pain was gone by the next day, and over the course of the next couple of weeks, I truly felt a change. I have more energy and mobility. I feel confident that I’m receiving high quality care, and that the methods used at Knecht Chiropractic are highly effective. In addition to all of this, every single person on Dr. Knecht’s team is wonderful. They are all seriously good at what they do, and they’re some of the friendliest people I’ve met since moving to Chicago. I am so glad I found Knecht Chiropractic! Annelies P.
In October of 2017 I began having neck pain out of the blue. I assumed that I had slept in an odd position or had strained it at work. I let it become a major problem in my life and eventually could not turn my neck more than a few degrees in either direction. Driving to work became a dangerous task and I was not a very friendly person since I was in constant pain. I spoke with a friend’s sister who is a chiropractor in Michigan and she said I should definitely see a chiropractor for their professional opinion. I finally decided that I needed to seek help and started researching chiropractors in the area. I had many recommendations of chiropractors in the area from friends, but I decided to look into options on my own as well. I saw a facebook ad for Dr. Knecht's practice and decided to check it out. I met the staff at Dr. Knecht's office and immediately knew that they were all genuine and friendly people who were going to be focused on the best treatment for me. I found out that I had 7 subluxations from Dr. Knecht that day and we worked on a plan to help heal my neck and back. I began my treatment immediately and began to see instant changes. Seeing Dr. B three times a week was definitely a commitment, but I could feel my body healing and knew that it was a necessary. It was a bonus that Dr. B is one of the kindest doctors I've ever met! Dr. B always took time to ask about my day and make sure I understood every part of my treatment. She answered even the most mundane questions and made sure that I was comfortable throughout my whole treatment. Other than Dr. B, the entire staff at Knecht Chiropractic made my experience extremely pleasant. Deborah was very flexible with my ever-changing schedule and never had a problem with my constant phone calls. I would rush in to the office in a tizzy and all of the staff would make me feel very welcome and calm. Kristin and Lourdes were always very helpful in my physical therapy and showed me all of my exercises multiple times when I forgot how to do them. They also talked to me about my day and made my time in PT so much more enjoyable. Lastly, my time with Ruby upstairs in the massage room was a very worth-while experience. Ruby was so sweet upon meeting her. I definitely underestimated the amount of muscle and power she can put into her massages! Every week I looked forward to seeing Ruby because it was a different kind of therapy that my body needed. Working my muscles was an integral part of my treatment and I'm very glad that this is included in Knecht Chiropractic's treatment plans. I am proud to say that I "graduated" from my active treatment plan with the help of all the wonderful staff at Knecht. I now can turn my neck all the degrees that it's supposed to turn and I am a total believer in the power of chiropractic. Without Knecht I would still be like the Tin Man- unable to move my neck and with a very stiff back. For that, I cannot thank them enough for all of their attentiveness and care. Elizabeth S. The amazing team of Knecht Chiropractic. have been a patient at this clinic for a couple of months now. It’s an amazing place! Dr. K and Dr. B are such amazing doctors. I can confirm that this clinic treats it’s patients with a lot of care and integrity. The staff is amazing too! Deborah, Kristin and Lourdes are wonderful! The are the wheels that keep this clinic moving. This clinic offers great service. I never thought that I would enjoy coming to a chiropractic office as much as I do. I walked into Knecht Chiropractic about 3 months ago with a lot of pain, to the point that is was hard for me to do ANY day to day activities. Dr. Knecht and Dr. Brittni took my pain away. They were willing to work with my schedule as long as I was willing to put in the work. If having any neck or back pain, this is the clinic for you! Hud D. September 2017
I initially came in for lower back pain and leg weakness. My experience here has been incredible. You will receive thorough assessments, treatments and incredible interactions with all staff members. The staff are always welcoming and very helpful with answering all my questions that I have with regards to any symptoms and treatment. I have learned that if you stick to a treatment plan that you will see results. Things don’t heal overnight! Other benefits that I have noticed include being in less pain. My symptoms have decreased in frequency and intensity, and I am able to do things better than I did before. If a person had similar symptoms, I would say to them, “See Dr. B!”, she is an incredible clinician who is always clear on her answers and or statements with regards to symptoms and treatment. I will absolutely continue seeing Dr. B at the clinic for maintenance care. You will not be disappointed in the treatment that you receive here." Jennifer S. August 2018
I am a 52-year-old cancer survivor in my 18th year of remission and counting! In addition, I am a history teacher by day and a gym rat by night. I officially started bodybuilding training on September 2013. After 5 years of strenuous workout sessions with a personal trainer that shows no mercy, my body started to show signs of exhaustion. Naturally, my body was developing an acute lack of skeleton-muscular balance. I could not squat correctly because my hips were out of alignment and I was putting far too much pressure on my left knee. I could not tie my shoes unless I bent very slowly and waking up from my bed with pain on my lower back every day was unbearable. I was restless. I knew that consulting a chiropractor would help but was hesitant as to the pain and potential suffering of not been able to train at the gym. The moment I entered the office, I was welcomed by a great medical team who showed genuine interest and complete understanding for my health problems and concerns. The doctor was abundantly clear in explaining the possibilities of treatment and assured me that he would help me in the journey of healing. Step – by – step everyone explained what the evaluation entailed. They were comprehensive in assessing all my symptoms, a battery of x rays, and other electronic devices were used to measure my range of motion. A few days after that, Dr. Knecht sat with me and went through the entire collection of x ray images and clearly explained to me what my condition was. My first adjustment came. As with everything you do for the first time, I was nervous, but the nervousness quickly disappeared. The conversation was so engaging that I was done in no time. Pain? A bit! But far less pain than the one I felt getting out of bed. I knew then and there that I was on the right place, with the right team and on track of improving my quality of life. Happy? The word does not even begin to describe how pleased I am. The next morning after the first adjustment, I got of bed, showered, got dressed, tied my shoes, and the pain was gone. Am I completely healed? I am on my journey and enjoying every step of the way. You see, when you are clearly explained the many ways your spinal cord can affect your entire system, then you are able to understand the steps you need to take to heal properly. The spinal cord is the pillar in which your body sustains itself. It is the guardian of your nervous system and your immune system. It is the “Headquarters of Communication of your Body”. It is where the exchange of brain messages come through the rest of the body. It has been almost a month and a week since I started the treatments. Already, I can do the things pain was preventing me to do. My range of motion has improved tremendously. I still have a long way to go. But I am so enthusiastic about it, that I look forward every day to go and do my part to continue my healing. A visit to a chiropractor could make a difference in the way you approach your ailments as whole. You only have this temple we call a body. The very temple that houses your soul. Taking care of that temple is imperative to protect the quality of the soul. Had I known that I was going to have so much fun taking care of my temple, I would have visited the chiropractor years ago. I am Thomas A., a newbie at chiropractic treatment. This is a fragment of my experience with pain and my chiropractor. I hope you have enjoyed it! Thomas A. July2018
